The Semiotics of Terminology in Language, Literature and Criticism in Mahmoud Darwish's Poetry Collection "Kazhar Al-Lawz Aw Ab'ad"

This study focused on Mahmoud Darwish's use of various literary terms in his collection " Ka-zahr al-Lawz aw Abʻad " with the aim of uncovering the major semantic signs produced through their formations in semiotic systems linked to their cultural references. The study employed two scientific methodologies: descriptive and analytical, in addition to the semiotic interpretive approach. It was found that Darwish utilized multiple terms from five references within the field of literary studies: (critical, linguistic, rhetorical, literary, and prosodic). Darwish employed these terms both as words at times and as concepts at other times. The study also found that Darwish produced six major semantic signs through these terms, which are: (1) the sign of love, divided into three sub-signs: the passion of love, the longing of love, and the disappointment of love, (2) the sign of sorrow, (3) the sign of separation, (4) the sign of nostalgia, (5) the sign of concealment, (6) the sign of ambiguity.
