This research focused on the strand preferences of grade 10 students. It specifically determined the profile of the students as to age, gender, mother’s educational attainment, father’s educational attainment, number of siblings going to school and birth order of the student. It also determined the factors affecting the strand preferences of the students, and the predictors affecting the strand preferences of the students. The study covered 49 grade 10 students as participants of the study. The study used the quantitative descriptive method. The data gathered was described, analysed and interpreted using simple linear regression. Findings showed that most of the Grade 10 students selected Humanities and Social Sciences (HumSS), and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand to take in Senior High School. Moreover, there is a significant association between the strand and factors affecting strand preferences of the students in terms of parental factor, peer influence, interests, financial condition, and job opportunities.
