Volunteering is a vital resource for nonprofit organizations and plays an essential role in the development of society. It not only facilitates the implementation of organizational activities but also strengthens civic engagement and builds social capital. This article offers a comprehensive analysis of the theoretical and practical dimensions of volunteer motivation, examining the diverse factors that influence participation in voluntary activities. Particular attention is given to altruistic, social, personal development, and career-related motives. The significant emphasis is placed on the cultural and systemic barriers that hinder the recognition and development of volunteering in Georgia, both at the societal and policy levels. The article explores international experiences in volunteerism with the current realities in Georgia. The aim of the study is to propose effective management strategies and motivational systems that can enhance the recruitment and long-term engagement of volunteers. Beyond organizational perspectives, the article explores the individual-level impact of volunteering, including improvements in self-esteem, social connections, skill development, and career advancement. Ultimately, the study highlights that volunteering is not merely unpaid labor, it is a mutually beneficial process for both the individual and the broader society.
