Abstract. The traditional agricultural system depends on the amount of applied chemicals (pesticides, etc.) and inorganic fertilizers, which, in addition to the expected benefits, also cause environmental problems. In this regard, the issues of reducing the negative impact of agricultural production on the environment through organic farming, the main task of which is to increase soil fertility using organic fertilizers, are becoming increasingly relevant. Initially, organic agricultural production in our country was mainly import-oriented. The main reasons hindering the development of the domestic organic food market were not only the low purchasing power of the population, but also the lack of information about the advantages and benefits of organic food products. Based on the fuzzy-possibility approach using expert knowledge, a mathematical model was built in a six-factor space of linguistic variables. The basic conditions of the model include all the main vectors along which organic agricultural production develops: the marketing component – the willingness of consumers to pay extra for healthier and higher-quality food products of high quality, as well as production and organizational components – natural and climatic conditions, fallow land, reserve land, certified organic agricultural land and the level of state support. Analysis of the model allowed to quantitatively assess the contribution of each factor to the variation in the assessment of the potential for the production of organic food products and outline the main directions applicable to the North-West region of the Russian Federation.
