Addressing the challenge of obesity in primary care: a review of effective interventions and implementation strategies

Obesity is a worldwide health epidemic that significantly raises morbidity and mortality by means of related comorbidities including diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. By means of effective interventions including behavioral therapies, comprehensive lifestyle modifications, and an increasing armamentarium of pharmacological agents capable of appreciable weight loss, primary care physicians are especially positioned to contribute significantly to the management of obesity.
