The modern social context involves the application of technology in almost every field, and higher education is no exception. However, it seems that it is only with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic that there has been a more significant implementation of modern technology in higher education, such as the organization of various forms of online teaching and learning. This study aims to examine students' perceptions of the use of social media in higher education. The research sample consisted of 314 students from undergraduate programs at the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš. The research tasks were to explore students' attitudes towards the use of social media in higher education and to determine if there are statistically significant differences in respondents' attitudes based on independent research variables such as study year, study program, average grade, length of presence on social media, and frequency of accessing social media. The results indicate that the majority of students have positive attitudes regarding the use of social media in higher education and that there are no statistically significant differences in respondents' answers based on the independent research variables. This study can serve as a basis for further research and for improving higher education practices in this area.
