Motivation: Gradient arrays offer substantial advantages over conventional gradient systems, but conventional power amplifiers lack scalability cost wise and space wise, limiting the practicality of gradient array. Goal(s): To develop a scalable, high-bandwidth digital feedback gradient array controller using advanced ADC and GaN transistor technology to enhance the overall feasibility of gradient array systems. Approach: We designed a 4-channel digital feedback controller in a standard Eurocard format, with the capability to scale horizontally. Results: We introduce a scalable gradient array controller with digital feedback which successfully drives mutually coupled gradient coils, demonstrating its viability as a high-performance solution for gradient array systems. Impact: Although the benefits of gradient arrays over conventional systems have been largely theoretical, our scalable, high-performance gradient array controller makes it possible to drive a large number of channels at a fraction of the cost.
