The article analyzes the problem of the dominance of reproductive teaching methods in modern Ukrainian education and justifies the need for its systematic renewal through the activation of the emotional-value component of the content of education. The problem of professional development of a teacher capable of successfully implementing this component in lessons is raised. Based on the analysis of scientific sources and pedagogical experience, the main characteristics of the emotional-value sphere are identified, which contribute to the harmonious development of the personality, the formation of an active civic position, successful social adaptation and psychological well-being of students. The idea that a high level of emotional competence of a teacher is a determining factor in this process is substantiated, its structural components (cognitive, value, activity) are revealed and five key areas of its implementation in practice are identified: creating a favorable emotional environment, integrating emotional and value content into educational material, using interactive methods, developing students' emotional intelligence and assessing their emotional and value development. It is concluded that modern Ukrainian education requires a systemic renewal that goes beyond the transfer of knowledge and includes the comprehensive development of the personality, in particular its emotional and value sphere. The dominance of reproductive teaching methods is one of the main obstacles on this path, the overcoming of which is aimed at actualizing the emotional and value component of the content of education. It is a fundamental prerequisite for the harmonious development of the student's personality, the formation of his active civic position, social adaptation, psychological well-being and successful self-realization.
