The aim of the research is to theoretically substantiate and identify the pedagogical conditions that contribute to increasing the effectiveness of research skills formation in senior students of the program 44.03.01 “Pedagogical Education”, major “Foreign Language (English)” (using the example of the Moscow Pedagogical State University and schools in Moscow). The article analyzes modern approaches to the formation of research skills in students – future teachers and reveals the specifics, structure, and content of the process of forming these skills in the context of methodological training. Based on an analysis of the experience of training students in pedagogical specialties, pedagogical conditions are determined that ensure the successful formation of research skills. The effectiveness of the developed set of tasks aimed at the formation of these skills is theoretically substantiated and experimentally confirmed. The scientific novelty of the research lies in clarifying the content and pedagogical conditions for the formation of research skills as a significant component of the methodological training of a future foreign language teacher, which allows us to fill existing gaps in linguodidactics and expand ideas about the ways of professional development of students. As a result of the research, the expediency of applying the proposed set of tasks, which ensures an increase in the level of formation of research skills in the process of training students – future foreign language teachers, has been confirmed.
