Abstract A serious obstacle to satisfactory income from farm woodlands is the owners' lack of bargaining power. The authors, taking advantage of existing farmers cooperatives, demonstrated how to convert this weakness into strength. The procedure required no capital, no new organization, and little overhead expense not borne by regular public forest agencies. It proved highly flexible and therefore well adapted to a wartime need. The principles used should be applicable to other products and to peacetime as well as wartime use.
