Post‐prostatectomy urinary incontinence can be a debilitating condition that negatively affects physical and psychological health and quality of life. The artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) is a gold standard treatment for post‐prostatectomy incontinence but is not without its considerations. In this article, the authors review current practice and evidence, and discuss the future of the AUS.
