Accordingly, we reviewed Interculturality and Interculturalism, the philosophical background of Intercultural literacy, and looked at the concept and components of Literacy as Communicative competence. As a result, this paper understood ‘Intercultural Literacy’ as an integrated con cept of ‘intercultural’ as intercultural communication that emphasizes differences and interaction processes between cultures, and ‘Literacy’, which is the ability to skillfully handle complex texts. Furthermore, by including ‘Intercultural Com municative competence’ in the field of ‘Literacy’, we attempted to reconstruct the conceptual qualities of Intercultural literacy and approach the communication process carried out in the space ‘between’ heterogeneous cultures from a complex and multi-layered aspect. In addition, by presenting the components of Intercultural Literacy in ‘cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects,’ we attempted to specify the direction of educational purposes.
