A war is a form of hostile activity. Wars have been fought for centuries, however over time, the tactics used, and the means employed in them have changed and developed. The present study is devoted to the cognitive frame of WAR. From the cognitive linguistic perspective, a frame is a complex knowledge structure with a number of interrelated elements. Conventional frame elements will be presented on the basis of lexicographic sources, while the most recent expansions will be outlined after selected online BBC News reports pertaining to information, cyber- and hybrid war.
