Objective of the research is to study the specifics of trends in the digital transformation of the educational space of Russian higher education. The methodological basis of the research of the study is represented by the provisions of the theory of the information society (D. Bell, E. Masuda), the concept of the network society (M. Castells), the theory of the digital society (E. Schmidt, J. Cohen), the digital economy (D. Tapscott), approaches to digitalization of the educational process (A. Yu. Uvarov, E. Gable, I. V. Dvoretskaya). Results of the study. Active digitalization of economic processes entails a transformation of the educational space of universities, which is due to the need to train specialists who can successfully carry out professional activities in the new digital environment. The processes of networkization, mediatization and platformization of the educational process are becoming important tools for the formation of digital competencies. Research рerspectives. The problem of transforming the educational space of Russian universities is promising for studying further trends in the development of higher education in the context of digitalization of society.
