Abstract In LXX Jer. 28:27 (51:27) there is a semantic mismatch between the Greek βελόστασις, an ‘emplacement for the discharge of missiles’, and the Hebrew טִפְסָר, a ‘tablet writer’. Rather than viewing this reading as a mistake made by the translator, alternative solutions will be suggested. A consideration of several additional factors recommends a conjectural emendation. It will be proposed that the conjectural emendation may resolve the semantic discrepancy between the LXX Jer. 28:27 and the MT.
