Abstract ID 130283 Poster Board 066 Introduction: Whether extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) favours the development of candidemia and antimicrobial resistance, and their association with patients' outcomes remain currently unanswered questions in our region. Objectives: Our objective is to investigate the occurrence of candidemia and antimicrobial resistance phenotype among patients on ECMO support and the related outcomes at our hospital. Study design and methods: We performed a retrospective chart review on all patients who received ECMO support between May 2015 and January 2022. The primary endpoints were invasive candidiasis and antimicrobial resistance incidence. The secondary endpoints were durations of ICU and hospital stays and mortality. Baseline characteristics and clinical outcomes were compared between ECMO survivors and non-survivors. Results: Among 104 patients on ECMO support, 56 (53.8%) expired. When comparing survivors vs non-survivors, the second group was older (51 ± 13 vs. 41 ± 15, PConclusion: Our results suggest that antimicrobial resistance is common among our patients population on ECMO and that its occurrence is significantly associated with higher mortality. Larger investigational studies are needed to confirm our findings.
