Antibiotics are standard treatment; but many women treated with antibiotics have symptom recurrence. Recent research has shown androgen receptors in the vestibule 229412 females had 5-7 Rx; 143259 had 8-10 Rx; UTI 10.7% vs 8.8% RR 1.2 (1.2-1.2); Dyspareunia 0.8% vs 0.6% RR 1.2 (1.1-1.2); Vulvodynia 0.1% vs 0.1% RR 1.4 (1.3-1.6), Pelvic floor dysfunction 0.5% vs 0.4% RR 1.1 (1.1-1.2)). Risk of rUTI was also sig. higher in those with anti-androgen Rx compared to controls (6.9% vs 5.6%, Chi-Square p<0.01). Compared to control, propensity-score matched groups of those with 5-7, 8-10, or ≥11 Rx had sig. higher RR of all outcomes (Figure 2). Compared to those with 5-7 Rx, propensity-score matched groups of 8-10, or ≥11 Rx had sig. lower RR of all outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: Anti-androgen medication Rx raises the risk of UTI, dyspareunia, vulvodynia, &/or pelvic floor dysfunction, but the clinical significance of this association is still a matter of debate. It is worth noting that the risk is particularly elevated during the initiation of medication, underscoring the importance of closer follow-up during this period.
