This article explores the complexities of the Indian health sector and focuses on the importance and challenges of quality in six dimensions proposed by the Institute of Medicine. By identifying a research gap in the empirical evidence, it investigates the actual barriers to realizing these dimensions. The study proposes solutions for each dimension, emphasizing patient safety, timeliness, patient-centered care, efficiency, equity, and effectiveness. In a competitive healthcare environment, the article highlights the central role of patient satisfaction in terms of profitability and long-term relationships. It concludes by recommending further research into factors such as communication, staffing, facilities, availability, timeliness and cost to improve the quality of comprehensive healthcare.
