Complexity-based approach for the Predictability of High-Impact Weather and Climate Events

This study embarks on an exploration of high-impact weather and climate events from the perspective of complex systems dynamics. By situating these events within the framework of subsystem interactions, the research aims to apply sophisticated techniques inherent in complex network methodologies. We intend to utilize an array of technical approaches, including climate network analysis, multilayer networks, and percolation phase transition theories. The primary objective is to unravel the underlying connections between these high-impact weather events and to enhance the predictability of such occurrences. Through this approach, we aspire to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamic interplay and potential correlations among these significant meteorological and climatological phenomena, thereby contributing to more accurate forecasting models and a comprehensive grasp of weather and climate systems.
