The article reviews and summarizes information about physical education and sports in some foreign countries, the experience of which can be used in the system of physical education of young people in Ukraine. The author emphasizes that the Concept of the State Targeted Social Program for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports for the period up to 2020 prioritizes the implementation of state policy to introduce European standards of living in Ukraine. The task, as stated in the document, is to combine the efforts of executive authorities, local governments, and civil society institutions to carry out reform in the field of physical culture and sports in order to bring it in line with European requirements and standards by defining it as the basis of the European model of reform. Therefore, an important source for determining the modern strategy for the development of physical education and sports in Ukraine is the analysis of the world experience of organizing the educational process, the study of patterns and trends in the development of this important component of the educational sphere on the European continent. The development of physical education of children and youth in the education system, bringing it to the world level should be carried out in the context of broad integration into the international education system and the exchange of best practices. The article analyzes the content, methods and forms, types of activities, evaluation systems of various programs of professional physical training of future specialists in higher education institutions abroad. The measures taken by these institutions to improve the level of physical fitness of their graduates are outlined. It has been found that the intensification of physical fitness of graduates is achieved in different ways. It is determined that the compliance of physical capacity with the requirements of professional duties and its periodic monitoring is a prerequisite for achieving and maintaining the operational readiness of specialists. The study of the international experience of leading countries (USA, Germany, Great Britain, France, etc.) gives grounds to assert a much more extensive system of assessment of future specialists, which concerns not only the adoption of control standards for physical fitness, but also their implementation in non-standard conditions. All higher education institutions in the leading countries have developed evaluation tables that stimulate the improvement of physical fitness.
