The article examines the development of socialist realism in the painting of the USSR and China, the main principles of official art and topics related to the construction of communism in the two countries. The main emphasis in the research is on the idea of continuity in the art of the two countries. The Soviet Union became a kind of inventor of socialist realism the theoretical basis of this artistic method was formed in it, and the mainfeatures of this art were developed. This allowed the PRC to subsequently adopt the experience of a neighboring state, which happened within the framework of close political and cultural ties between the two communist countries.
