Abstract The oleoresin-yielding abilities of slash pine trees selected for form and vigor from throughout the species' range were measured on grafted ramets by a microchipping technique. High-yielding trees occurred at random throughout the range. Broadsense heritability of yield was 89 percent, and high yields were positively correlated with tree vigor. The data indicate that a profitable gain in producing trees with all three traits could be made by selecting for high yield from among trees originally selected for vigor and form.
