Regional cooperation has become an essential tool for ensuring stability, sustainable development and strengthening democratic values. The European space, characterized by a remarkable geopolitical and economic density, represents an eloquent example of how states can collaborate to achieve common objectives, going beyond national borders in favor of regional integration and solidarity. This article aims to highlight the main mechanisms, actors and trends of regional cooperation in the European space, starting with the post-Cold War period and up to the present. A deep understanding of these processes is essential to outline sustainable perspectives on the future of regional cooperation in a global environment in constant transformation.
