The article discusses the main difficulties associated with creating a textbook on the language of the specialty “Informatics” for foreign students who are at the initial stage of training. The aim of the study is to identify the basic principles for creating a textbook on the language of the specialty “Informatics”. The article examines and analyzes the most popular textbooks on the language of the specialty “Informatics”, identifies their advantages and disadvantages, formulates a list of requirements for a textbook on the language of the specialty, and suggests examples of lessons from the textbook of the authors of the article. The scientific novelty lies in systematizing the principles of creating a textbook on the language of the specialty for secondary vocational institutions, which take into account the peculiarities of the language of this discipline and the language level of students. As a result of the study, a system of principles for a textbook aimed at developing professional competence in students has been developed. Educational materials that reflect these principles have been created, and a lesson from the textbook of the authors of the article, intended for A2 level foreign language speakers studying in secondary vocational educational institutions, is described in detail.
