The article examines M. L. Moravskaya’s poems about animals intended for children (Bol’naja, Poproshajki, Apel’sinnaja Strana, Sova), inspired, as her letters to M. A. Voloshin make clear, by her promenades in the St. Petersburg zoo. The documentary character of the poetic sketches and the connection of these poems with the central motifs of Moravskaya’s lyrics are established.
