Aim. Analysis of the essence of the principles of sustainable development, justification of their significance as a strategic imperative for modern business, and identification of the conditions for their successful implementation. Methodology. The methodological foundation of the study is based on a systems approach. General scientific methods of analysis, synthesis, generalization, and comparison were applied. The study reviews key international documents in the field of sustainable development as well as examples of their adaptation in business strategies and management models. Results. It is established that sustainable development, as a global paradigm, exerts a significant influence on the formation of strategic approaches. Key barriers to business adaptation to the requirements of sustainable development were identified, including institutional, regulatory, and cultural aspects. The main principles of sustainable development relevant for domestic organizations were outlined. Research implications. This work contributes to the theoretical understanding of sustainable development as a concept of strategic management and can be used in shaping corporate policy, developing sustainable development programs, and creating regulatory frameworks in the field of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) compliance.
