Abstract:This paper focuses on the current status, existing problems, and improvement measures of college student volunteer service. Through literature analysis and a review of the work conducted over the past year by the "Qihang" Volunteer Service Team from the School of Automotive and Transportation at Chengdu University of Technology, this study systematically outlines the development and current state of college student volunteer service, and deeply explores its strengths and weaknesses. The research finds that in the new era, college student volunteer service has played a positive role in enhancing students’ overall competence and promoting social harmony. However, challenges remain, including insufficient funding, underdeveloped cultivation of volunteer spirit, and limited diversity in service content. In response to these issues, this paper proposes improvement strategies such as innovating service content and formats and strengthening the cultivation of volunteer spirit, based on the practices of our volunteer team. These measures have effectively enhanced the quality and impact of our volunteer activities. Finally, the paper offers a forward-looking perspective on the future development of college student volunteer service, providing practical insights for teams facing real-world challenges.
