In the present study, we identified five Muellerella species colonizing various lichens within the Indian subcontinent, including a new species from the Central Himalaya, notable for its unique brown, aseptate, globose spores found on the genus Aspicilia . Additionally, brief diagnostic characters along with comprehensive identification key for multispored pyrenocarpous lichenicolous fungi known from India is also provided, aiming to facilitate further research and deepen the understanding of these fungi’s ecological and taxonomic diversity.
