Abstract Purpose: This research analyzes temporal trends and age-based patterns of deaths from malignant breast neoplasms in the public health service in Brazil over the past five years. By examining mortality rates across different age groups and periods, the study seeks to identify significant trends and disparities, contributing to a better understanding of risk factors and population vulnerabilities. The findings aim to support public health policies, enhance early detection strategies, and improve targeted interventions to reduce mortality rates. Methods: The study was descriptive and quantitative, using data extracted from the Brazilian Unified Health System’s Informatics Department (DATASUS). Deaths from malignant breast neoplasms between January 2020 and November 2024 were analyzed. The data were stratified by age groups, covering specific population segments, and organized into time series to identify patterns and trends over the study period. Results: The analysis covers the years 2020 to 2024, which totaled 29, 930 deaths from malignant breast neoplasia. Throughout the specific period, the most affected age group was 50 to 59 years old, representing 26. 21% of total deaths, followed by 60 to 69 years old, which represented 24. 15%. The age groups with the lowest number of deaths were 20 to 29 years old and 30 to 39 years old, which totaled 0. 9% and 7. 29%, respectively. Conclusion: Based on the presented results, it can be concluded that the highest prevalence of deaths from malignant breast neoplasia occurred among women aged 50 to 69, accounting for over 50% of the total deaths during the analyzed period (2020–2024). These findings highlight the importance of targeted prevention and early detection strategies for this age group, such as awareness campaigns and regular screening through mammography. On the other hand, the low proportion of deaths among younger women (aged 20 to 39) suggests that the risk increases significantly with age, underscoring the role of age-related factors in the development of the disease.
