Objective: This article aims to contribute to the study of family poverty and its determinants. In this context, the objective of this work is to understand the determinants and nuances that contribute to family poverty. Theoretical Framework: The article uses an empirical study, where it uses the Probit Model to determine the probability of poverty, using the database of the National Household Sample Survey (PNADC). Results: As a result, the study indicates that households headed by men, households where the head of the household has a greater number of years of schooling and lives in urban areas is less likely to have poverty. Implications of the Research: On the other hand, households located in the Death Region, headed by Blacks or Browns, households headed by individuals who work in rural areas are more likely to be in poverty.
