The primary objective of this investigation is to discover putative serum biomarkers indicative of disease progression from ulcerative colitis to colorectal carcinoma through combined analysis of proteomic and metabolomic signatures. Accordingly, 208 individuals were recruited as the discovery cohort and 101 as the validation cohort. Serum samples were collected from all participants for high-throughput proteomic profiling and untargeted metabolomic analysis.
