An archaeological watching brief was carried out at Land South of 8 Preston Cottages, Preston, Scottish Borders during groundworks for the construction of a single dwelling house. Foundation trenches measuring 0.8m wide were excavated around the periphery of the house footprint, along with those for two internal walls bisecting the footprint from north to south. All ground-breaking work was carried out under constant archaeological supervision. There were no features, deposits or artefacts of archaeological significance identified during this watching brief.
