Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory dermatologic condition that has broad implications for an individual’s health, including their social and emotional well-being. Although rosacea was previously classified into 4 distinct clinical subtypes, recent research has shown that its signs and symptoms do not fit neatly into fixed categories, but rather occur in varying combinations that can change over time. This article will discuss the recent updates to rosacea classification and treatment guidelines, including implications for dermatology nurses.
