Abstract The accumulation of saliva in the soft tissue surrounding the parotid gland is a characteristic of parotid sialocele. The common cause of parotid sialoceles is iatrogenic injury or trauma to the salivary gland duct. Neoplasia, infection or ductal stenosis are other causes which are followed by sialoectasia until tissue breakdown. This article describes the case of a male patient, aged 40, whose primary complaint at presentation was facial oedema on the right side. The patient had a history of facial trauma in a road traffic accident, and the swelling appeared 2 weeks after the injury was treated medically. The patient had undergone conservative management after sufficient diagnostic evaluation.
