Abstract

As the construction industry faces rising environmental challenges, researchers are looking to nature for solutions. Inspired by biological systems that can adapt, heal and renew themselves, a new class of materials is emerging — engineered living materials (ELMs). These materials could transform the way we design, build and maintain our built environment, bringing us closer to truly sustainable and resilient architecture
