Abstract 2-(Halochalcogenyl)pyridines, 2-(halosulfanyl)quinolines, 2-(halosulfanyl)pyrimidines, and 2-(halosulfanyl)-1,3-benzothiazoles reacted with pent-1-ene through regioselective formation of anti-Markovnikov electrophilic addition products and subsequent ring closure. Based on these reactions, high-yielding methods for the synthesis of new fused heterocyclic compounds were developed.
