ABSTRACT No validated tool identifies Chinese ICU patients eligible for palliative care rapidly. Translate, culturally adapt and validate the Chinese P‐CaRES. Three‐phase methodological study in six ICUs of three Shanghai tertiary hospitals. Fourteen‐item Chinese P‐CaRES: KR‐20 = 0.88, two‐factor structure (63% variance), sensitivity = 0.93, specificity = 0.81, test–retest ICC = 0.80. Reliable, valid and feasible for screening ICU patients needing palliative care consultation. Three‐ to five‐minute routine screening facilitates early referrals, aligning with Chinese family‐inclusive care.
