AbstractThe successful reintegration of deportees poses a significant challenge in Ghana, as numerous individuals encounter livelihood uncertainties stemming from insufficient support systems. This study sought to evaluate how deportee management contributes to improving livelihood sustainability within the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS). The study focused on the impact of deportee management on sustaining livelihoods and assessed the main challenges that hinder its effectiveness. A quantitative method was employed, using structured questionnaires distributed via a convenience sampling technique. The analysis of data was conducted utilizing the Relative Importance Index (RII), mean values, and Microsoft Excel. The findings indicated that access to essential needs and services (RII = 0.920) and economic reintegration support (RII = 0.884) emerged as the most significant factors influencing livelihood sustainability. Nonetheless, limited financial support (RII = 0.408) and inadequate stakeholder collaboration (RII = 0.878) were recognized as significant obstacles. The study suggests that enhancing deportee management practices at GIS requires increased financial investment, stronger collaboration among multiple stakeholders, expanded job creation opportunities, and robust policy frameworks. Through the implementation of these strategic interventions, GIS can promote a sustainable reintegration process, enhancing the economic and social well-being of deportees while ensuring their valuable contribution to society.
