The aim of this article is to identify SAP process mining challenges through a systematic literature review and then supplement these with challenges identified through ethnographic research. Therefore, the term challenge is first defined. This work does not assess how and to what extent the challenges identified have been resolved. Overall, twelve SAP process mining challenges were identified. Six of these were identified in the literature, and our ethnographic research in projects with practitioners uncovered six further challenges, highlighting more specific SAP process mining challenges.
