Urine color varies depending on food, drugs and other compounds. Metronidazole is an antimicrobial, antiprotozoal agent widely used in the treatment of various infections and urine darkening is a rare side effect. When administered in toxic doses, side effects can occur in many systems. In this case report, dark urine that appeared after ingestion of unknown amount of metronidazole due to suicide in a patient who applied to the emergency department is mentioned. It was observed that the color of urine improved spontaneously upon discontinuation of the drug, and it should be kept in mind that cautions should be taken in terms of other side effects of the drug.
