Methodological Evaluation of Community Health Centre Systems in Nigeria Using Bayesian Hierarchical Models

Community health centres in Nigeria face challenges in providing efficient healthcare services. A systematic literature review was conducted to assess the methodologies used in evaluating these systems. Bayesian hierarchical models were applied to analyse data from various studies, focusing on efficiency gains. The analysis revealed a significant proportion (52%) of inefficiencies across different health centres, with variations in service delivery and resource allocation being key factors. Bayesian hierarchical models provided valuable insights into the performance of community health centres, highlighting the need for targeted interventions to enhance efficiency. Specific recommendations include improving staff training, upgrading infrastructure, and implementing more flexible scheduling to address identified inefficiencies. Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
