Book Review

For almost a decade after JTEP was founded in 1967, it carried extensively written book reviews; thereafter, until the new millennium, it had brief book notes. Both reviews and notes covered a very broad range of transport topics, because in those days there were few transport journals, and fewer still reviewed newly published work. Today, despite the proliferation of academic journals on transport, the practice of reviewing new literature in the field remains a feature largely of the past. The Editors and Board have decided to revive the founding tradition of JTEP , although concentrating on books that have the economics discipline in sharp focus, and sometimes with the addition of a policy overlay. In this issue, we are delighted to introduce the first such review, for a book by Dr Barry Humphreys, combining economic analysis of post‐war global aviation policy. Other reviews will follow from time to time as suitable subject matter is released.
