Background The T allele of the glucokinase regulatory protein (GCKR) rs1260326 polymorphism (Leu446) is associated with metabolic traits, but has not been reported in older Japanese adults. The prevalence of metabolic disease in Japan shows a large sex-specific difference. This study examines how the rs1260326 polymorphism in the GCKR gene affects metabolic parameters of older Japanese adults in each gender.
