The complete genome of a Staphylococcus aureus isolate causing hospital-acquired pneumonia was sequenced. Genetic changes in subsequent isolates (cultured 8, 20, and 22 days later) from the lungs of the patient were identified. The genome comprised a 2.74 Mb chromosome encoding 2,658 genes, representing a novel sequence type designated ST10248.
