Being pregnant is a very personal experience for a women in life. Most women have positive attitudes about pregnancy, especially if it is planned with a partner’s agreement. Husband’s involvement during pregnancy provides encouragement, reassurance, physical, emotional, psychosocial support to his wife during the antenatal period, labour and delivery. The study aimed to provide the baseline data about knowledge and attitude regarding active involvement of father during pregnancy among husbands in selected areas of district Jalandhar, Punjab. The non-experimental descriptive research design was used to conduct the study. The study was conducted on 100 husbands of women who were pregnant as well as who had children between the ages of 0-2 years of selected rural areas of District Jalandhar, Punjab. Purposive sampling technique was chosen to select the sample. Data was collected by using socio-demographic variables, self-structured knowledge questionnaire and Likert scale. Collected data was analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The results revealed that 51(51%) husbands had moderately adequate knowledge, followed by 49 (49%) husbands had adequate knowledge and no one had inadequate knowledge. Similarly 97 (97%) husbands had positive attitude and 3 (3%) had neutral attitude. The mean knowledge score of husbands was 20.45 and the mean attitude score was 45.3. The‘t’ value between the knowledge and attitude score was 55.52 that was highly significant at p < 0.001 level. Hence it was concluded that there was positive relationship between knowledge and attitude regarding active involvement of father during pregnancy among husbands.
