This master thesis presents clear procedures for the dimensioning and calculation of outdoor storage tanks according to the Eurocodes, which have replaced previous rules for constructionand control of these tanks. The study provides a comprehensive guide on how to set boundary conditions, design loads, and material properties in accordance with Eurocodes standards by using linear static finite element method in Abaqus. The research focuses on evaluating theplastic limit and buckling behavior of the shell and beams for various loads, including self-weight, internal pressure, hydrostatic pressure, wind loads, snow loads, and lifting of the roof. The studyhighlights the importance of pre-processing and post-processing, as well as the significanceof having adequate computer power when using Abaqus. The study serves as a valuableresource for engineers and researchers looking to conduct structural analysis using Abaqus and Eurocodes standards. Acknowledgements are given to the supervisor, colleagues, friends, and family for their support and guidance throughout the research journey.
