Modern era with its fast pace of technological advancement, has played a significant role in the expansion of social media platforms. This digital platforms have become a fundamental part and plays a crucial role both in terms of shaping and influencing students’ lives. Hence, this study aims to assess undergraduate students perception of social media and examine if there is any significant differences based on gender and type of institution. This descriptive study employed a random sampling technique, through which a sample of 218 undergraduate students was selected. Data was collected using self-constructed social media perception scale with dimension: self-esteem, information, communication, entertainment and privacy. The data collected was analysed using statistical methods like mean, standard deviation and t-test. Results indicates that, majority of (68.81%) of the undergraduate students showed average level. Findings further reveal that, there is no significant difference in Undergraduate students’ perception towards social media based on Gender and Type of Institution.
