Though previous meta-analyses reported small relationships between the CSAI-2 anxiety components and sport performance, research with the CSAI-2 and revised version (CSAI-2R) never abated. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to update the state of the CSAI-2 and competitive sport performance literature. This review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines. The search sources included databases found within Web of Science and EBSCOhost and four published meta-analyses. The search resulted in xx articles from 1986 to 2025 with x,xxx participants (xx.x% female) from youth to elite sport, xx countries, and team and individual sports. Correlational (placement, score, event statistics) and mean difference (winners, losers; medalists, non-medalists, etc.) data were extracted along with a number of variables used for descriptive and moderator purposes. The random-effects model was used for both the relational and mean difference main analyses.
