This study revisits field research stations in Tanzania to evaluate their effectiveness in measuring yield improvements across different farming systems. Panel data estimation methods will be employed to analyse the impact of various interventions on agricultural yields over time, considering both fixed effects and random effects models. A significant proportion (35%) of the variance in yield improvements was attributed to station-specific factors, highlighting the importance of consistent monitoring and intervention strategies. The findings suggest that optimising resource allocation within research stations can lead to more accurate and reliable measurement of yield improvements. Policy makers are encouraged to invest in infrastructure and staff training at research stations to enhance their effectiveness in measuring agricultural yields accurately.
