ABSTRACT The name Ophiorrhiza geminata, basionym of Polyura geminata (Rubiaceae), is investigated from the nomenclatural point of view. Polyura is a monotypic genus with P. geminata , a species distributed from East Himalaya to Assam and Bangladesh. 10 specimens which are part of the original material were found at different herbaria, that is, BR, CAL, E, GH, GZU, K, and P. Of these, the better preserved one (K001123372) is designated here as lectotype of the name Ophiorrhiza geminata .
